The Pros and Cons of Homeschooling

“Do you need education? Of course yes.” That question is often asked for children who are young enough to study, but what kind of education that will be taken? Until now, some parents still doubt about it. Anything can be more modern including education which is very important for children’s future. Homeschooling is one of the popular programs of education which still becomes pro and contra in this century. As soon as it is more popular, many thoughts cross in to your mind. What are the benefits and detriments from homeschooling? To make sure you about homeschooling, you really need to weigh both of the pros and cons.


The first reason for taking homeschooling is children have more freedom to study. Parent and children can arrange the time when will be the best for studying. Several kids may prefer to learn in the morning, noon, or evening which very influence to the will of study. On the other hand, students studying in formal or public school, they must go, attend, study, break, and finish studying according to the rule of school. Therefore, children might be bored or tired because of the bad schedule. It surely affects of learning process that is not effective. So, being able to set up the learning schedule is a way to get success.


The second reason to arguing homeschooling is knowing more about your kids. It is the biggest advantage of homeschooling because parent can notice and keep their children while they are studying. Moreover, this way will help parent to figure out what are the talents and skill from their children. In contrast, students learning in public school, of course parent will not be able to control their children a whole time in every single day. In addition, students can be influenced by the bad environment, such as cheating, fighting, smoking and many others that will make parent scared and worried. Thus, getting to know more about your beloved kids is greater than only packing them on the bus to school in the morning.


Despite the many advantages, other families do not argue about homeschooling. The first opinion is it is not easy to spend much time with their children all the time, especially for those who are busy in working. Parent must prepare the lesson, research the topic, and teach them by wasting much time. Not only that, the parents usually have their own obvious plan that can give a lot of pressure for their kids to be what they want. It surely makes children not enjoy in studying. In fact, supporting and being with parent is one of the successes in this program.


The second reason for ignoring homeschooling is there is no competition in studying. Students never know how rate their skill because they only study with their parent and friend whose the same ability and talent with them. Also, socialization and interaction with other persons are limited, whereas it can give the precious experience for children in social environment.


Considering about some good and bad reasons from homeschooling, parents should think more before making the decision for their children’s education. If parents will not have much time and ability to their kids, homeschooling is not the best choice in this case. In other side, to anticipate the bad influences which will happen, parent should apply homeschooling to their kids. It will be more potential because parent can control and bring their children for the best future.
